Noblesville, IN– BlueSky Technology Partners, a consulting firm delivering eCommerce solutions to mid-sized and enterprise markets has entered into a new strategic partnership with e-Spirit to address the need for a content integration platform in the eCommerce marketplace. e-Spirit, headquartered in Dortmund, Germany and with US offices in Boston, MA, is the manufacturer of the content integration platform FirstSpirit. With its new partnership, BlueSky looks to add content integration as a core competency while driving further expansion of their eCommerce solutions in the US market. BlueSky is an IBM Premier Business Partner with legacy as a top-tier consultancy specializing in solutions involving IBM's WebSphere Commerce for strategic eCommerce implementations. BlueSky has created a solid foundation with experience as e-Spirit's principal "trained partner" in the US who has a solution integrating FirstSpirit with WebSphere Commerce at a well-known retail chain.
FirstSpirit as a Content Integration Platform for successful online merchants
Integrated with FirstSpirit as a content integration platform, companies can quickly transform their international web strategies, efficiently manage website content, intranets and extranets, as well as distribute content through different channels or integrate in complex portal structures like IBM WebSphere Portal, SAP, SharePoint and others. Thereby FirstSpirit is much more than a Content Management System (CMS). FirstSpirit is the central content integration platform permitting quick and easy expansion of data from client applications with editorial and social content, as well as integration of marketing instruments. This ensures the optimized editing processes and the quick time to market.
Synergy of BlueSky and e-Spirit
The goal of the new partnership is to bring together two focused organizations to fill a gap in the market. The strength of BlueSky's eCommerce consulting practice and e-Spirit's world-class CMS creates a combined technological solution for content integration within the eCommerce environment. "We are very happy to have in BlueSky another strategic partner in the USA, which has recognized the unique selling characteristic of FirstSpirit as a real Content Integration Platform and wants to establish it together on the US market", says Robert Bredlau, COO North America. "BlueSky has a long and wide experience in the implementation of eCommerce projects on the basis of IBM WebSphere Commerce and also has excellent access to the retail sector." In parallel to the first project in operation at a large US retail chain, BlueSky has already trained additional consultants to work with FirstSpirit. "The strategic partnership we've created puts us in position to offer a best in class solution that didn't exist prior", says Todd Irwin, CEO, BlueSky. "Additionally the roadmap we've put together with e-Spirit will open up new opportunities for both parties in the US retail market and we're very excited about that".
On November 3rd, Gartner revealed their Magic Quadrant for E-Commerce research report, and this year, we see new trends that are especially noteworthy. The e-commerce industry is steadily increasing and one of the most important desires for organizations is for a single vendor to provide as many e-commerce and customer experience capabilities as possible. The complexities of this industry create challenges for many smaller platforms, but as seen in the magic quadrant matrix, the market leaders continue to invest in encompassing all e-commerce needs into one platform.
Gartner named IBM as the leader in the e-commerce industry based on two primary criteria: Ability to Execute and Completeness of Vision. Gartner's definition of the e-commerce market continues to expand beyond simply B2B and B2C commerce to include the entire customer experience throughout the entire sales process. IBM Smarter Commerce encompasses the entire value chain, and the processes that contribute to the overall customer experience which is why their "sell" side solutions, including WebSphere Commerce, lead the industry. Noblesville, IN, September 15, 2009 - BlueSky Technology Partners, one of Indiana’s fastest growing consulting companies, was the recipient of the best B2C Deployment award for a Systems Integrator during the 2009 IBM WebSphere Commerce Leadership Summit held in Toronto, Canada, from September 14 - 17. The awards ceremony was held on September 15 when BlueSky was chosen the winner by an IBM executive committeeefihjef for the e- commerce site deployed for Kotulas, a brand of Northern Tool & Equipment (NTE).
The eCommerce site www.kotulas.com was selected by IBM over other well known brand sites that were nominated in the category. BlueSky attributes its success to CodeBlue Frameworks, BlueSky’s pre-built WebSphere Commerce assets and methods. Using these assets and methods allowed the team to achieve the desired business results and served as the catalyst for IBM’s selection of BlueSky as the winner.
In 2008 NTE’s brand development group for Kotulas was challenged with the need to test-bed their new brand initiative on a limited budget and an aggressive time table. The new initiative for Kotulas was a completely new concept for NTE as it went after the market for selling unique gifts and gadgets. NTE has been working with BlueSky for several years on various WebSphere Commerce initiatives. To meet the challenge facing the Kotulas brand team, NTE leveraged BlueSky’s lean WebSphere Commerce solution called CodeBlue Frameworks. CodeBlue Frameworks leverages pre-built frameworks and the out-of-the-box functionality of WebSphere Commerce to deliver a solution in a short timeframe and for limited budgets. NTE and BlueSky agreed that CodeBlue Frameworks was the perfect fit for NTE’s initiative, and two months later NTE launched www.kotulas.com.
The CodeBlue Frameworks solution for Kotulas delivered the core capabilities of WebSphere Commerce including marketing functions such as eSpots and promotions; integrations to pricing and inventory; and customizations to tax, freight and promo/key code interfaces. The initial launch leveraged the out of the box search capability that comes with WebSphere Commerce.
Kotulas.com proved to be a very successful venture for NTE as they were able to achieve their 12 month revenue goals ahead of budget. Since achieving the better than expected ROI, NTE has reinvested in the site to include social media forums, ratings and reviews, and additional Web 2.0 features. The CodeBlue Frameworks solution built with WebSphere Commerce gave them the architecture capable of extending capabilities over time. NTE has risen to # 74 (based on their on-line sales revenue) of the 500 largest US-based e-retailers by Internet Retailer and #2 in the Hardware / Home Improvement web retailers category.
"BlueSky is honored to have won this prestigious award by IBM," states Todd Irwin, CEO, BlueSky Technology Partners. "I’m even prouder of the achievement since the nomination for the award was provided by our client Northern Tool. Anytime your client provides you this type of acknowledgement it means the world to a consultancy. We’re very proud."
