Google divvies up it’s Index to benefit mobile users
The big news came last week during a keynote at PubCon given by Gary Illyes, a webmaster trends analyst with Google. Although no specific timeline was given, soon the web search and tech goliath will begin dividing its current search index into two separate indexes. One less frequently updated for desktop searches and one for mobile searches. The mobile index will become the main search index due to searches on mobile devices now outnumbering searches on desktop. That means, that if you’re site isn’t mobile-friendly, you may not get the traffic you have come to expect.
